JCC MetroWest is seeking an experienced Director of Facilities to oversee our building and grounds in West Orange, NJ and our summer day camp in Flanders, NJ.  This is an opportunity to be an instrumental part of an organization that provides educational, recreational, fitness & wellness, cultural and communal programs and activities to people of all abilities and in all stages in life.  The Director of Facilities will manage assets and budgets, supervise staff, coordinate contractors and vendors, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and personally perform maintenance, construction and repairs as needed, and as such, the successful candidate must be a highly organized, detail-oriented, self-directed and efficient strategic problem solver and reliable team member.

Essential Functions of The Job Include:

  • Upkeep of JCC and Camp Deeny Riback facilities and grounds in West Orange, NJ and Flanders, NJ, including plumbing, water, electrical, HVAC, structural and fire/safety.
  • Develop relationships with and oversee outside contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure that all facilities and equipment meet or exceed applicable codes and regulations.
  • Personally perform maintenance, construction as repair tasks as needed.
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term planning for projects, preventive maintenance and equipment replacement.
  • Work with CFO to develop and monitor budgets for the Facilities Department.
  • Serve as an engaged member of the senior leadership team.
  • Supervise, train and oversee both JCC-employed facilities team members and custodial staff provided by outside vendor. Directs and coordinates building openings/closings, cleaning, repairs, ground maintenance, and room set-ups/breakdowns.
  • Attend all security meetings and serve on the JCC’s security team; share senior team responsibility for overall security strategies and emergency procedures.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Exemplify internal service standards of respect, kindness, teamwork and communication.
  • Foster collaborative culture by partnering with departments to identify, prioritize and meet facility needs.
  • Manage/support venue rentals, event implementation and customer service.
  • Assist with special projects, events and promotions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills Required:

  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire and safety, and mechanical systems as well as of procurement and contracts.
  • Problem-solving, analytical and time-management skills; interpersonal and communication skills; project management skills and ability to administer multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload, and efficiently manage resources.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office as well as the ability to learn other software applications.
  • Must be able to operate motor vehicles and heavy machinery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership facilities role.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 pounds; must be able to lift, pull, climb and bend; must be comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time; must be able to easily move around the JCC MetroWest and Camp Deeny Riback facilities.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary: $85,000 – $90,000 per year
