Gathering Strength from One Another

On Saturday October 7, Hamas terrorists launched a savage attack on Israel, slaughtering men, women, and children, kidnapping civilians and soldiers, and lobbing rockets at cities across the country.

The next night, our Greater MetroWest community came together at B’nai Jeshurun in Millburn to show solidarity for the State of Israel and to support each other during this difficult time. More than 2,200 people filled the room, including American and Israeli government officials, community leaders, and local clergy. Click here to view photos.

Those in attendance heard from New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-11th Dist., U.S. Rep. Tom Kean, Jr., R-7th Dist., who pledged their horror and disgust at the atrocities committed against Israel, as well as their unwavering support. Attendees were also updated about the ongoing situation by Yuval Donio-Gideon, Consul for Public Diplomacy at the Consulate General of Israel and Dov Ben-Shimon, CEO of Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. The mood in the room was heavy and somber as poems were recited and prayers were said for the Jewish Homeland and the brave soldiers protecting it.

The night concluded with the singing of Hatikvah, Israel’s national anthem, a song that means hope for the people of Israel.
